Avatar: The Way of Water 2022 History
Avatar: The Way of Water is the second sequel to the 2009 blockbuster film, Avatar. This follow-up is set several years after the first, and features a cast that includes Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Stephen Lang, and Sigourney Weaver. It’s also directed by James Cameron, who produced the first film.
Set in the near future, Avatar: The Way of Water follows Jake Sully (Worthington) and his family as they fight to survive in the Pandoran oceans. He has recently been appoint chief of the Omatikaya clan, and has formed a new family with his human lover Neytiri (Saldana). But when a threat resurfaces, they must seek refuge in the Metkayina clan on the planet of Pandora.
Lo’ak makes a discovery. The tulkun, a cetacean species, is actually an intelligent species. They learn to communicate with one another, and the two form a friendship.
In addition, a group of children are introduce to the aquatic ecosystem of the Metkayina’s Cove of the Ancestors. One of the children, Spider, is human, but hasn’t embraced his heritage yet.
When Lo’ak’s family is threatene, he learns about the tulkun’s secret. The tulkun is an intelligent, pacifistic cetacean species, but they are outcasts among their species.
After a fight with the akula, a sea predator, he learns a lesson about being responsible. As he prepares to leave Pandora, he is strand by a dangerous fish. However, the tulkun rescues him.
Avatar: The Way of Water is a great follow-up to the first film, but some viewers felt that the story was weaker than the original. For others, it’s an emotional masterpiece.
