Agilan Movie Story

The film mainly revolves around the harbour world of Chennai with Agilan playing the role of a crane operator and leader of illegal trades in the harbor. He doubles up as a ruthless criminal who is unafraid to kill anyone and is determined to rise in the ranks. He aspires to meet and associate with Kapoor (Tarun Arora), who is the number one smuggler of the Indian seas.

He is also in cahoots with a sub-inspector Madhavi (Priya Bhavani Shankar) who cleans his dirty work. However, he is in serious trouble from Paranthaman (Hareesh Peradi) who is jealous of his success and Inspector Gokul (Chirag Jani), who has his eyes on him and will stop at nothing till he catches Agilan.

Agilan Movie Review

The movie, set in the port of Chennai, is a fascinating glimpse into a world that’s often portrayed as sterile and bland in Tamil cinema. The director and his cinematographer, Vivek Anand Santhosam, are able to capture the port life pretty well.

However, the second half of the film is where the film starts to fizzle out. The initial setup scenes are quite gripping, and the film sucks you into the harbor’s day-to-day activities pretty effectively.

In the first half, we get to see Agilan as a cutthroat crane operator who is out to rule the port of Chennai with ruthlessness and determination. The actor, who’s ably supported by Priya Bhavani Shankar and Tanya Ravichandran, does a commendable job in his role

The rest of the rogue’s gallery in the film, including Hareesh Peradi, Dheena, and Tarun Arora, are animated caricatures that are criminally wasted in their ill-conceived roles. Thankfully, the director doesn’t try to make these characters sing or dance.
